...can an Hasidic Jew chart in popular music with a Reggae song. :)

Y'all have probably heard this song already, but so have I, and I like it.
Nyah. :)
Grammy's tonight.

Hmm. Seems there's some lyrics in the original not in the radio live version. Of course. )

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In September [livejournal.com profile] vektor and I donated clothes to the needy (11 points). In June I ruled Duluth, Minnesota as a kind and benevolent dictator (700 points). Last Monday I got in line at the supermarket at the same time as someone else and I didn't yield (-8 points). In August I ate my brussel sprouts (1 points). In November I pushed [livejournal.com profile] rosif3r in the mud (-17 points).

Overall, I've been nice (687 points). For Christmas I deserve a shiny red ball!

Sincerely,
lachesis

"LONG PRAIRIE, Minn. - Polio was pronounced dead in the Western Hemisphere years ago, after one of the most successful public health campaigns in history. But now it is stealing through a tiny Amish community here in central Minnesota, spreading from an 8-month-old girl to four children on two neighboring farms.

So far, no one has been crippled by the disease; only 1 in 200 cases of polio results in paralysis. But worried public health officials say it may be only a matter of time."

It's subsiding, somewhat, as I suppose it should.
But I guess this is what happens after four years. )

These are all links, etc. I found from other sources. I cannot vouch for the validity or effectiveness of the following, but felt them important to pass on.

-----------
2 Months of Foodstamps for Evacuees - pass it on, please
Do you know anyone in Texas as an evacuee from any of the three states
Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama? If so, the Texas Department of
Health and Human Services will give them 2 months of Food Stamps with
no questions asked. All they need to show is a driver license. This
agency will also give you information and locations where they can
receive FREE GAS. Also, if you are housing anyone from one of these
states you can call FEMA at (800) 621-3362 file a claim and receive
assistance for your help. This is valid information directly from TDHHS.

Below is the site to find a location near you

Charity Navigator has an article on charitable contributions, with links to different organizations.

From the LJ [livejournal.com profile] news community:
LiveJournal will donate 25% of their Gift Shop merchandise sales for the month of September (this includes the Frank [the Goat mosaic] poster pre-sale) to the relief efforts.

I know y'all have probably been reading about this a lot lately, but I know that y'all have come thru for me and mine in the past. It's appreciated, really.

My friends [livejournal.com profile] marrus and [livejournal.com profile] techgnostic relocated to New Orleans to have more 'art space' for Marrus' work. They were one of the many people in New Orleans affected by Hurricane Katrina. Fortunately, they left in advance of the hurricane, boarding/shoring/securing up what they could, but they just don't know when they (if at all) will be allowed to return.

M&T are both incredibly talented people; Marrus is an incredibly talented artist, and she and Techgnostic both frequently work at Rennfaires along the east coast. Being the type of people they are, they're also trying to find assistance for others they know are in need; but if you'd like at all to help them and others, donations can be made through Paypal to marrusart@yahoo.com.

Thanks.

the best part of the L'Oreal highlighting kit I used (stealing a small amount from my mom's batch to try it out), is that while it doesnt seem to have done much to my HAIR, it's highlighted one of my pillows NICELY. :/

Oh well. At least I didnt use all that much.

Now, on with your lives.

Good enough for television?

Pietown Productions has a new show in the works...
"Welcome to Gaydar, the new half-hour, in-studio game show for VH1 where two players try to determine the sexual orientation of three challengers based purely on pop culture quizzing."

Have questions or comments about the show? Email them at pietown@pietown.tv!

Again, stolen from dionysia: Go to musicoutfitters.com and put your birth year into the search. The first link is likely the top 100 songs of that year. Cut and paste that list here. Bold the ones you actually like. Understand that the word "like" in this case means, in the very least, "wouldn't immediately change the radio station from." Pick a favorite. Underline that favorite.

I swear, I'll deny I'm a hippie, regardless of what this list says. :) )

Since I wasn't sure if it meant "like then" or "like now", go with "like now".
And, for my own added "bonus round"; if you see your prom song on there, italicize it. :)

Can anyone guess what year this was? )
