It's Alive!

Hi everyone. Well, due to a failure on my part for not checking email, I "lost" my account for a few days when the payment thing didn't renew - but everything seems to be intact, so yay.
As for my intact-ness, as far as LJ-land goes, Hi to those of you that are newly joining me, *waving!* to those of you I know and haven't kept up with lately, and for those that have no idea what I'm talking about, well, *shrug*. :)
Anyway, the short version, since I have no idea when I last updated:
- (Still) working at the American Heart Association, now as a Regional Director for the state. Not as "glamourous" as it sounds; (ha), I oscillate between supercrazybusy and ... not. I also don't cover the WHOLE state but 11 of the 21 counties, but, that gets a bit long to fit on a business card. Most days I like what I do but there's times when I don't like HOW I have to do my job. So it goes.
- I finally FINALLY identified why I haven't been feeling physically well over the last 6 months or so- I have a severely herniated disk in my lower back. It hasn't responded to epidurals, so my next steps are seeing about back or other type of surgery. I've also discovered recently I have diabetes (oh fun), and that contributes to the back pain (who knew?). So, I joined a fitness center associated with an area hospital (and one we happen to work with), am waiting to get my medical release to exercise -today!- and continue taking lots of drugs. Woot. More to come.
- The best news, IMO, is "Mr D"- I met him back in June, online, and we've been together ever since. He's a screenwriter, has written 3 movies, writes for the Simpsons and Bart Simpson comics, and has his own webcomic - SuperFrat - (superfrat.com) that he's pimpin' at cons all the time, among other things. He also wrote "Complete Mafia for d20",and if I can get off my ass and finish editing and assembling it, the 2nd book: "Complete Mafia: West Coast". :) (shush, I'm not done yet.) For you gamers, he also writes "Lookin' at Comics" in Knights of the Dinner Table, and wrote the "Hacklopedia of Beasts" (monsters encyclopedia) for Hackmaster. (This is one of those times I wish Skaven had a LJ.He'd appreciate this. Or at least know what I was talking about.) Anyway, outside of all that, he's awesome, even if some of his fans are a little... well, you know. Right now he's in L.A. working on some business deals with his business partner and Ahmet Zappa (yes, THAT Zappa), and ending his L.A.-sushi-eating-tour with the Wizard World L.A. con this week. Of course, I miss him.:)
So, I ought to get back to work now, but I'll try to update more often.
What's more often than "never", again?
hah!

Oh, and about your back pain, have you tried a chiropractor or physical therapy? Those traction tables work wonders...

Date: 2008-03-14 11:25 am (UTC)I, literally, feel your back pain. I have 2 problem disks and have had back pain issues for many years. Chiropractic has helped me. Some for the intense pain and lot for the ongoing problems. I hurt myself a lot less now than I used to and recover much more quickly when I do. I also fixed an underlying mechanical problem (one leg longer than the other) which has done wonders. This was diagnosed by a PT after others of all stripes missing it for about two decades!
