-Wil Wheaton is a geek. He's a darn good writer, a fan of Car Wars and Batman, in his mid-30s, married to a beautiful woman, and has two stepsons he adores.
-His claim to real fame is that he was the lead in a surprisingly good movie called Stand By Me back in the 80s, and then was in five seasons or so of Star Trek: The Next Generation as Wesley Crusher. As Wesley, his character was very poorly written, and the fans hated him. (Unjustly, as the writing was not his fault.) He thus developed a love/hate relationship with Trek. After he quit Trek, his acting career did nothing good for a decade. His writing career (his blog and going-on-three books) has mostly been about rediscovering his love of Trek, and learning that he in fact has a writing career. Oh, and he still acts, mostly doing voice work for cartoons and video games.
