I know y'all have probably been reading about this a lot lately, but I know that y'all have come thru for me and mine in the past. It's appreciated, really.

My friends [livejournal.com profile] marrus and [livejournal.com profile] techgnostic relocated to New Orleans to have more 'art space' for Marrus' work. They were one of the many people in New Orleans affected by Hurricane Katrina. Fortunately, they left in advance of the hurricane, boarding/shoring/securing up what they could, but they just don't know when they (if at all) will be allowed to return.

M&T are both incredibly talented people; Marrus is an incredibly talented artist, and she and Techgnostic both frequently work at Rennfaires along the east coast. Being the type of people they are, they're also trying to find assistance for others they know are in need; but if you'd like at all to help them and others, donations can be made through Paypal to marrusart@yahoo.com.

Thanks.

These are all links, etc. I found from other sources. I cannot vouch for the validity or effectiveness of the following, but felt them important to pass on.

-----------
2 Months of Foodstamps for Evacuees - pass it on, please
Do you know anyone in Texas as an evacuee from any of the three states
Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama? If so, the Texas Department of
Health and Human Services will give them 2 months of Food Stamps with
no questions asked. All they need to show is a driver license. This
agency will also give you information and locations where they can
receive FREE GAS. Also, if you are housing anyone from one of these
states you can call FEMA at (800) 621-3362 file a claim and receive
assistance for your help. This is valid information directly from TDHHS.

Below is the site to find a location near you

Charity Navigator has an article on charitable contributions, with links to different organizations.

From the LJ [livejournal.com profile] news community:
LiveJournal will donate 25% of their Gift Shop merchandise sales for the month of September (this includes the Frank [the Goat mosaic] poster pre-sale) to the relief efforts.
