And he makes three...
Feb. 21st, 2005 11:43 pm2/20 - Sandra Dee, once Hollywood's ideal blonde teen star and the original Gidget, died Sunday morning outside. She was 63. Decades before Britney, Lindsay and Hilary provided endless fodder for Us, Star and People, Sandra Dee was the reigning It Girl, thanks to the beach blanket romp Gidget, the Tammy sequels, the racy melodrama A Summer Place and her marriage to Darin in 1960, when she was just 16 and he was 24.

2/20 - Hunter S. Thompson, the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas author whose drug- and alcohol-fueled diatribes pioneered gonzo journalism and made him a counterculture hero, committed suicide at his Colorado home Sunday night. He was 67.

2/20 - John Raitt, the legendary Broadway musical star and father of singer Bonnie Raitt, died Sunday at his home in Pacific Palisades, California, from complications of pneumonia. He was 88. Blessed with rugged good looks and a glorious baritone voice, Raitt originated the role of the carnival barker Billie Bigelow, the tragic, troubled antihero of the 1945 Broadway classic Carousel.

You know, I really -am- beginning to know how my parents and grandparents feel. And it sucks.
